Things To Do
The Kennebunkport History Center

A complex of five buildings located at 125-135 North Street (less than 1.5 miles from Dock Square) with on-site free parking serves as the Society's exhibit, research, archival and administrative center. Whether your Kennebunkport stay allows for only a brief peek at our story or a more in-depth examination, a stop at the History Center will prove rewarding. All exhibits are free; although donations are always welcome.

The Pasco Exhibit Center

Added to the History Center in the spring of 1999, the Pasco Exhibit Center serves as the administrative hub of the Historical Society.

Most importantly, it also is home to permanent and changing displays of artifacts, memorabilia and pictorial presentations of events that shaped the history of Kennebunkport. To learn about the latest exhibit, please go to the Events Page.

Opening Times: Year-round, Tuesday - Friday, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Town House School

The Town House School evokes the nostalgia of a typical New England one-room school house in which capacity it served from the turn of the last century until 1951. It now functions as the Society's Historical and Genealogical Research Center. For more research information click Research.

The Clark's Shipwright's Office

Just to the right of the Town House School is the design, planning, and business focal point of the once bustling Clark Shipyard on the Kennebunk River. It now displays artifacts of one of the most significant periods in the "Port's" history.

Opening Times:
By prearranged appointment

The Old Jail Cells

Located to the left of The Town House School, the old jail cells speak eloquently for themselves. They graphically demonstrate that even a short stay would be considered "hard time" by today's prison standards.

Opening Times: By prearranged appointment

The Benson Blacksmith Shop

This latest edition to the Kennebunkport Historical Society's buildings was purpose-built to showcase a blacksmith exhibit. It is located adjacent to the Pasco Exhibit Center.

Opening Times: Wednesdays from mid-June through mid-October, noon - 4:00 pm. Otherwise, open by prearranged appointment.

Group tours are encouraged and are available upon request. For arrangements, please call 1-207-967-2751 or email us at kportHS@gwi.net.
