The Kennebunkport Historical Society hosts several exciting events throughout the year that are open to members and non-members alike. There are a wide-range of activities, places to visit, and lectures to participate in. This page changes regularly, so please check back often to see if dates or times have changed or if new events have been added and contact the Society to confirm details. In order to help you to navigate through all that is on offer, this page has been divided into three main sections:

On-Going Events

TOURS

  • Guided Nott House Tours
    8 Maine Street, Kennebunkport
    June 25 to October 11
    Wednesday - Friday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
    Saturday: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

    Members and children under 18 - Free
    Non-member adults - $7.00
    10% discount to members on all purchases at the Port of Call Gift Shop

  • Historic Village Walking Tours
    Guided Walking Tour of the historic area leaves from the Nott House (8 Maine Street)
    Beginning on July 10 at 11 am
    Thursdays: July 10 through August 30
    Saturdays: July 12 - October 11

    Members - Free
    Non-members - $7.00 per person

  • Self-Guided Walking Tours at your convenience.
    "Strolling Through the Port" guide books may be purchased at the Port of Call Gift Shop (8 Maine Street) and the Pasco Exhibit Center (125 North Street)

  • Pasco Exhibit Center
    125 North Street, Kennebunkport
    Society Headquarters and Exhibit Center
    Open Year Round
    Tuesday thru Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
    Saturday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (June 27 - October 11)

    Exhibit: Yesteryear in the Kennebunks  as seen through the eyes of Louis D. Norton   Admission is free.   Donations accepted. 

  • Benson Blacksmith Shop  
    125 North Street, Kennebunkport
    Forge open
    12 pm to 4 pm on Wednesdays from mid-June through mid-October for demonstration and activities.

  • Town House School Archival Center
    135 North Street, Kennebunkport
    Historical and genealogical research opportunities and assistance, Wednesday and Friday, 10 am to 1 pm, and by appointment.
    Photo exhibit “Town House Corners Remembered”

    sponsored by the Cape Arundel Inn.  

  • Jail Cells and Clark Ship Yard Office
    135 North Street, Kennebunkport
    Open Wednesday and Friday, 10 am to 1 pm and by appointment

  • The Kennebunkport Historical Society Gift Shop - "Port of Call"
    8 Maine Street, Kennebunkport
    - Open June 20th through Labor Day, Tuesday - Saturday 10 am - 4 pm
    - September through Columbus Day weekend on Friday and Saturday 10 am - 4 pm
    10% discount to members on all purchases.

  • Informal Meeting of the Membership
    Wednesday, April 16 at 7 pm at the Town House School.
    Society officers and board members to discuss hiring of an Executive Director.

  • Welcome Back! Social
    Thursday, May 22 at 5:30 pm at The Nonantum Resort, 95 Ocean Avenue.
    Cocktail reception featuring music and cash bar.
    Tickets are $40 per person.

  • Nott House Volunteer Tea and Organizational Meeting
    Wednesday, May 28 at 3 pm.
    Come learn about the many volunteer opportunities with the Society. Docents and tour guides are needed at the Nott House and in the Village to tell the town's fascinating story. Help is also needed at the Town House School in researching Kennebunkport's history for members and others year-round. Just what the doctor ordered for us history buffs!

  • The History Center - Grand Opening Reception
    Friday, June 27 from 5pm to 7 pm at the Pasco Center (125-135 North Street).
    Opening of "Yesteryear in the Kennebunks" as seen through the eyes of Louis D. Norton.

  • "Paint the Port", a collaboration with the Heartwood College of Art
    Sunday, June 22 at the Nott House
    Paintings on view at the Nonantum Resort at 4 pm, hors d'oeuvres reception at 5 pm, live auction starts at 6 pm.
    Tickets are $15. Cash bar available.

  • Nott House Garden Party
    Sunday, June 20 at 4 pm.
    Music provided by the players from Bowdin International Music Festival.
    Sponsored by Acadia Trust.

  • KHS Biannual Auction
    Date, time and location TBA.

  • Jazz Dinner
    Thursday, August 7 at 6 pm at the Nonantum Resort
    Music provided by the State Street Traditional Jazz Band.
    Sponsored by Pack Maynard Real Estate.

  • Annual Meeting

    - Champagne Reception, Thursday, December 4, 5 - 7 pm, $25 per person
    - Tours of the Nott House, Friday, December 5, 1 - 4 p, Saturday, December 6 & 13, 10 am - 4 pm
    Tickets are $7 per person

  • Christmas Prelude Walking Tours
    All tours leave from the Nott House, 8 Maine Street, Kennebunkport
    Friday, December 5 at 2 pm

    Tickets are $7 per person

  • Annual Holiday Dinner
    Tuesday, December 9, at the Kennebunkport Inn.
    Our traditional roast beef dinner.
