Events 2009

The Kennebunkport Historical Society hosts several exciting events throughout the year that are open to members and non-members alike. There are a wide-range of activities, places to visit, and lectures to participate in. This page changes regularly, so please check back often to see if dates or times have changed or if new events have been added and contact the Society to confirm details. In order to help you to navigate through all that is on offer, this page has been divided into three main sections:

• Guided Nott House Tours
  8 Maine Street, Kennebunkport
  July 2 to October 10
  Thursday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm (evenings in July and August only)
  Friday: 1:00 - 4:00 pm
  Saturday: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
  10% discount to members on all purchases at the Port of Call Gift Shop.
  
  Tickets are $7 for adults. Admission is free to members and children under 18.
  

• Historic Village Walking Tours
  Guided Walking Tour of the historic area leaves from the Nott House (8 Maine Street)
  Beginning on July 9 at 11 am
  Thursdays and Saturdays: July 9 through August 27
  Saturdays only: September 3 - October 10
  
  Tickets are $7 for adults. Admission is free to members and children under 18.
  

• Self-Guided Walking Tours at your convenience.
  "Strolling Through the Port" guide books may be purchased at the Port of Call Gift Shop (8 Maine Street) and the Pasco Exhibit Center (125 North Street).

• The Kennebunkport Historical Society Gift Shop - "Port of Call"

  Open July 2 through October 10

THE HISTORY CENTER OF KENNEBUNKPORT

• Pasco Exhibit Center
  125 North Street, Kennebunkport
  Society Headquarters and Exhibit Center
  Open Year Round
  Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
  Saturday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (July 11 - October 10)
  
  Exhibit:“Directors' Choice” - unique and unusual items from the collection. Admission is free. Donations accepted.

• Benson Blacksmith Shop  
  125 North Street, Kennebunkport
  Forge open 12 pm to 4 pm on Wednesdays from mid-June through September for demonstration and activities.

• Town House School
  135 North Street, Kennebunkport
  Historical and genealogical research opportunities and assistance, Wednesday and Friday, 10 am to 1 pm, and by appointment.
  

• Jail Cells and Clark Ship Yard Office
  135 North Street, Kennebunkport
  Open Wednesday and Friday, 10 am to 1 pm and by appointment

• The First-Ever Unbelievable KHS Raffle

• Volunteer Cocktail Party
  Thursday, May 21, 5 to 7 pm, at the home of Eliza Webster. Come sign up to help the Society this summer. Docents, tour guides, researchers, gift shop staff, gardeners, office help and handymen and women welcome. Bring a friend who wants to volunteer! • Grand Opening of the Nott House
  Thursday, July 2, 5 to 7 pm, $5 per person, members free. Join us and the "Port of Call" Gift Shop to celebrate the new Nott House evening hours.
  

• Volunteers "Thank You" Celebration TBA.
  Larry and Beverley Soule will be your hosts to salute those who have volunteered for the Society throughout the year.
  

• 9th Annual Golf Tournament and Barbecue
  Friday, September 18, at the Cape Arundel Golf Club. Time TBA.
  $110 per person in advance, $125 day of tourney. Includes greens fee, cart, prizes, and refreshments.

• Annual Meeting
  Time and date TBA.
  Members only.

• Christmas Prelude at the Nott House
  8 Maine Street, Kennebunkport
  - Champagne Reception, Thursday, December 3, 5 - 7 pm, $20 per person
  - Tours of the Nott House, Friday, December 4, 1 - 4 pm,
  Saturdays, December 5 & 12, 10 am - 4 pm
  Tickets are $7 per person; members and children under 18 free.

• Prelude Champagne Reception
  Thursday, December 3, 5 to 7 pm, at the 1853 Nott House, 8 Maine Street. $20.00 per person. Come see the Nott House decorated for the season. Includes hors d'oeuvres, champagne and an abundance of holiday spirit!
  

• Christmas Prelude Walking Tours
  All tours leave from the Nott House, 8 Maine Street, Kennebunkport
  Friday, December 4 at 2 pm
  Saturday, December 5 at 11 am and 2 pm
  Saturday, December 12 at 11 am
  Tickets are $7 per person

• Annual Holiday Dinner
  Tuesday, December 8, at the Kennebunkport Inn.
  Our traditional roast beef dinner. Tickets are $45 per person.
