Welcome to the Kennebunkport Historical Society. We invite you to explore our history. Our First Families Kennebunkport Museum celebrates our town’s rich legacy from sea captains to Presidents, with special tours and exhibitions. The Bush Family has called Kennebunkport their summer home for nearly a century. President George Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush have generously supported our new museum with personal family artifacts. Explore the Bush Family and our other historic first families at White Columns, a grand 1853 Greek Revival home, in the heart of the village. Enjoy our Museum Shop too.
In addition to the museum in Dock Square, our campus at 125 North Street includes the Pasco Center, featuring administrative offices and a gallery with different historical exhibitions, the Town School House with research experts available to answer your questions, the Benson Blacksmith Shop, Clark Shipyard Office, and Louis Norton Studio. In addition to our historic collections and properties, we offer community and educational outreach with school programs, internships, and special events open to locals and visitors alike.
Since 1952, our mission has been to preserve and promote Kennebunkport’s history. Check our Calendar for a listing of 2014 events, exhibitions, and programs.
